Vladimir Grinin

Vladimir Mikhailovich Grinin (Russian: Владимир Михайлович Гринин; * November 15, 1947 in Moscow ) is a Russian diplomat and since 2010 Russian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany.

Grinin graduated 1971, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations ( MGIMO ) and then joined the diplomatic service. His first post led him to the Embassy of the USSR in Bonn. From 1980 to 1982 he attended the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.

He was until 1986 a member of the Soviet delegation at the negotiations between the USSR and the USA on disarmament and arms control in Geneva. There followed a use as Counsellor and later head of the Embassy of the USSR in the GDR and from 1990 in the Federal Republic of Germany. From 1994 to 1996, Grinin Director of the 4th European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and responsible in that capacity for relations with Germany. His first ambassadorship took him from 1996 to 2000 to Austria. From 2000 to 2003 held the post of Secretary General Grinin the Foreign Ministry. The next uses as ambassador took him to Finland (2003-2006) and Poland (2006-2010). In June 2010 he joined the post of ambassador in Germany.

Grinin is married and has one daughter. He is fluent in Russian and German, English and French.
