Vladimir Ippolitovich Lipsky

Vladimir Ippolitowitsch Lipski (Russian: Владимир Ипполитович Липский; * 27 Februarjul / March 11 1863greg in Samostrely, Volhynia province, .. † February 24, 1937 in Odessa) was a Soviet botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Lipsky ".

Lipski studied in Kiev and worked after graduating in 1886 a further seven years at the university; 1894 to 1917 he worked at the Botanical Garden in Saint Petersburg. In Odessa he headed from 1928 to 1937 the local botanical garden.

Lipski was primarily involved with higher plants of the Caucasus, Central Asia and Ukraine. The plant genus Lipskyella is named after him.
