Vladimir Maksimov

Vladimir Salmanowitsch Maximov (Russian: Владимир Салманович Максимов, scientific transliteration Vladimir Maximov Salmanovič; born October 14, 1945 in Potsdam or to Kant, Kyrgyz SSR, Soviet Union ) is a Russian handball coach and former handball player. The position of the right-handed play was mostly in the right rear area.

Career as a player

Maximov first played at Uniwersitet Krasnodar and Moscow for May.

For the Soviet national Maximov played 172 international matches in which he threw 690 goals. In his days as a handball player Maximov was team captain of the Soviet national team. His international career he finished in 1978 with the final match of the World Cup, that the Soviet Union lost 19:20 against the Federal Republic of Germany. In this game, he scored two goals.

Career as a coach

1992 still as an assistant coach, but soon he was mainly responsible until 2008 with a break head coach of the Russian national handball team of men. After the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he handed the office temporarily to Anatoli Dratschow. As the successes of the national team failed to, he took to the 2006 European Championships again as coach, he gave back to the 2008 Olympics. As his successor Nikolai Tschigarjow could have no great success, Maximov took over again the post of national coach. In January 2012 he resigned from this office. Since 2001, Maximov is also coach of Medwedi Chekhov. In addition to coaching positions, he is also President of Medwedi and Director General of the Russian Handball Federation.
