Vladimir Ovchinnikov (athlete)

Vladimir Ovchinnikov (Russian: Владимир Овчинников, Eng. Transcription Vladimir Ovchinnikov ) ( born August 2, 1970 in Volgograd ) is a retired Russian javelin thrower.

As a representative of the Soviet Union, he was seventh at the 1988 Olympics, sixth at the European Athletics Championships in 1990 in Split and won the silver medal at the Universiade 1991.

At the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 and 1995 in Gothenburg and at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney, he retired, now starting for Russia, in the qualifier.

In 1995 he became Russian Champion. His personal best jump of 88.00 meters he set up in Togliatti on 14 May of the same year.
