Vladimír Sommer

Vladimír Sommer ( born February 28, 1921 in Lower George Thal, † September 8, 1997 in Prague) was a Czech composer.

Sommer studied after training as a teacher at the Prague Conservatory with Bedřich Voldan Violin and Karel Janecek composition and to 1950 at the Academy of Performing Arts with Pavel Bořkovec. Here he worked among others for the later to become the presidential candidates of 2013 Vladimír Franz as a composition teacher, and later as Professor of Music Department of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University.

He composed three symphonies, an overture, a cello and a violin concerto, chamber music and choral works.
