Vladimir Spivakov

Vladimir Spivakov Theodorowitsch ( born September 12, 1944 in Ufa, Soviet Union ) is a Russian violinist and conductor. Since 1989 he has headed the International Festival of Colmar. He is also musical director and principal conductor of the National Philharmonic of Russia, founded in 2003.

Life

The former child prodigy Spivakov studied at the Moscow Conservatory. As a violinist he is both a soloist and chamber musician, with a preference for duos ( Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms ). As a conductor, he notably the Moscow Virtuosi, an ensemble which he founded in 1979 and with whom he plays repertoire from Baroque (Johann Sebastian Bach) to the modern ( Dmitri Shostakovich, Alfred Schnittke ) almost everything. This broad operating framework has occasionally exposed him to charges of artistic hyperactivity and superficiality. It supports and promotes young Russian young artists. The Laureates of the International Rotary Music Competition in Moscow - Anna Denisova, Anna Sawkina and Narek Arutjunjan - occurred with his orchestra Moscow Virtuosi.

Spivakov is domiciled in Spain.

Prizes and awards

Spivakov received a number of national awards from the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic ( RSFSR ) and the Soviet Union and the Armenian Order of St. Mesrop Mashtots and the Ukrainian Order of Merit, 2nd class, des Lettres was et with the French Ordre des Arts Award and in 2000 Chevalier of the Legion of Honor and was promoted to officer of the Legion of Honor later.
