Vladimir Zarev

Vladimir Sarew ( Bulgarian Владимир Зарев, common transliteration Vladimir Tsarev, * 1947 in Sofia, Bulgaria) is a contemporary Bulgarian writer.

Life

He studied Bulgarian Philology at Sofia St. Kliment Ohridski University and has published 10 novels, and several collections of short stories and poems, and nonfiction. Several of his works have been translated into Russian, German and English. 2012 completed Vladimir Zarev his Weltschev trilogy - the third band Soul Ashes was released in September 2012 in Deuticke in Paul Zsolnay Verlag ( Hanser Publishers literature, where previously the first two volumes were published: family fire and fire heads). Literary reputation he reached later than for his novel Maturity ( published in 2003 and translated into German in 2007 ), in which he describes the social upheavals in Bulgaria in the 1990s.

Zarev is the editor of the literary magazine Sawremennik ( Bulg Съвременник, in German: contemporary ), which he kept in the 1990s before closing. Today about 400 pages literary magazine of foreign literature is published quarterly and is regarded as one of the leading literary journals of Bulgaria.
