Vladislav Krapivin

Vladislav Petrovich Krapiwin (Russian Владислав Петрович Крапивин, scientific transliteration Vladislav Petrovich Krapivin; born October 14, 1938 in Tyumen, Russian SFSR, USSR ) is a Russian writer, author of many books for and about children and young people, including the fantastic genres.

Biography

Krapiwin studied journalism at the State University of the Urals ( Уральский государственный университет ), worked for the newspaper " Wetscherni Sverdlovsk " ( Вечерний Свердловск ) and the magazine " Uralski Sledopyt " ( Уральский следопыт ).

In 1961 he founded the children's and youth group " Karawella " ( Каравелла ), which dealt with journalism, sailing ships and fencing and ran it subsequently over 30 years. Since 1965, the group was under the sponsorship of the magazine " Pioner " ( Пионер ).

Krapiwins first book ( The voyage of the "Orion " - Рейс " Ориона ") was published in 1962. Overall, there were more than 200 editions of his works, he was awarded numerous Soviet and Russian literary prizes. Several of his books have been filmed and staged. Since 2007 he lives in Tyumen and is a professor of literature at the local State University.
