Vlado Kristl

Vlado Kristl (born 24 January 1923 in Zagreb; † 7 July 2004 in Munich) was a Croatian living in Germany filmmaker and author of very different literary texts.

Life

Kristl studied from 1942 to 1949 at the Art Academy in Zagreb. From 1950 he worked as a freelance painter and poet. In February / March 1953, he presented abstract pictures in an exhibition of the group EXAT -51 in Zagreb. He then went to Western Europe, and from 1954 to 1959 he lived in Chile.

From 1959 he was back in Yugoslavia, where he exhibited his works and first animated films created. When his first live-action film The General and the serious man was seized, left Kristl Yugoslavia in 1963 and settled in Munich.

He and his wife Jelena, he had the children Madeleine (* 1966) and Pepe Stephan ( b. 1968 ).
