History

The occupation of the site is occupied by the Byzantine period, after the expulsion of the indigenous population was a branch of the Turks in the 15th century. From the 18th century Christians settled again, mostly Vlachs. The place gained a great importance in the production of cheese and textiles. The economic consequences of the Second World War and the subsequent civil war led to a migration of population to the cities. In the summer and particularly during the holiday season the place is inhabited seasonally, many former residents live in the houses and then take some great journeys to work in purchasing.

The place is known in Greece for the environmental festival "Festival of the earth" ( Γιορτές της Γης ) and a music festival in honor of the conveyor classical music Nikolaus Dumba, whose family came from the place.
