Vleuten

Vleuten is a village in the Dutch municipality of Utrecht in the province Utrecht. By 2001 Vleuten Vleuten - De capital of the municipality was Meern. Vleuten is completely incorporated as a district of the city of Utrecht, but has yet features (indicator etc. ) keep the former autonomy. Vleuten has 7600 inhabitants.

1881 Vleuten was connected with the construction of a railway station on the railway line Utrecht -Rotterdam. With the train could reach the central railway station in Utrecht in about seven minutes. In November 2007, the station has been Vleutener 300 meters westward reset and is now on the new elevated double-track line, which is expanded to four tracks since 2010.

The former town hall of the municipality of Vleuten - De Meern located in Vleuten and is now home to the police station. Southwest of the old village is situated on the old road to the Hamturm Harmelen, a tower from the 13th century and part of the old castle of Ham.

Vleuten has a reformed church with a tower dating back to 1300.

In Roman times it was a Vleuten Kastellum and vicus namensFletio or Fletione. Vleuten for the first time in 1164 mentioned as Flutene. The village developed around the church and stayed for centuries small. As of 1900, the buildings along the main road was built and in 1885 the Roman Catholic Willbrordkirche is built.

After 1950, Vleuten developed quickly.
