Vlhošť

Sandstone cliffs on the west side

The mountain Vlhošť ( German Wilschtberg ) (614 m) is the highest peak of the Daubaer Switzerland ( Kokorinsko ) in Northern Bohemia (Czech Republic). The base of the mountain is composed of sandstone, the peak area of phonolite ( phonolite ). Striking are the indented rocky terraces of ashlar sandstone. In 1998, the peaks and the rocky areas of the southwest side was provided as a nature reserve on 78 hectares under protection.

Location

The Vlhošť is located 10 km southwest of the town of Ceska Lipa ( Czech Lipa ). Immediately at the foot is the small village of Hvězda ( Star Village ). In the south, the broad forest and rocky areas of the Daubaer Switzerland with the famous rock formation Husa ( goose) from. East of the striking mountain Ronov is ( Ronberg ), which is already counting the Bohemian Central Mountains.

View

A view is possible only from the rocky terraces of the south-west side. From there, the view of the nearby village Hvězda ( Star Village ) for Ronov ( Ronberg ), with its striking castle ruins and on to the Bohemian Central Mountains.

Way to the summit

  • To the mountain leads a local yellow marked trail, which connects to a blue -marked path of Dubé ( Dauba ) to Zahrádky ( Neugarten ).
  • The lowest starting point is the small village Hvězda. For the path around the mountain on the above path then it takes approximately 1.5 hours
