Geography
The place is located in the north of Lorraine, five kilometers east of Bouzonville and two kilometers from the German - French border (Saarland) away.

The village was established in the 16th century as Waulffenigen. Other place names were Woelfling (1793), Vatfling (1801 ) and Voelfling -lès- Bouzonville (1801 ).
