Vôge Plateau

The Voge is a sandstone plateau in northeastern France. It connects to the southwestern foothills of the Vosges Mountains and covers a 700 km ² area in the south of Lorraine and in the extreme north of the Franche- Comté region. The name evolved from Vosagia and is occupied as Vogia since the 11th century.

The present landscape designation Voge is limited to the territory of the watershed around the springs and headwaters of the Saône, the coney and the Semouse in the departments of Vosges and Haute -Saône in a triangle between Remiremont, Vittel and Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse while the existing until the 18th century Bailiwick Voge, whose seat was in Mirecourt, further north -lying areas around the cities Châtenois, Arches and charm included. The ridge Monts Faucilles derives from the Voge west toward Langres plateau above.

Characteristic of the Voge are large-scale mixed forests (beech, oak, pine ), small lakes and hot springs, which are used in the spas Bains- les- Bains and Plombières- les-Bains.
