Vogelsbergkreis

The Vogelsberg district is a district in Giessen Region in Central Hesse or Upper Hesse, Osthessen. The District Office is located in Lauterbach.

Geography

History

The Turk's cap lilies are taken from the old county coat of arms of Lauterbach and symbolize the Hoher Vogelsberg, the lion stands for land county Hessen or their successor states, which ruled most of present-day county area. It is also found in the coat of arms of the city of Alsfeld.
