Vogelweide

Bird pastures or Vogelweidhöfe were places where birds, mostly young Beizvögel, were caught or trained. Birds, therefore, which was needed for the very popular medieval falconry.

The term Vogelweide called:

  • Walther von der Vogelweide, a poet of the Middle Ages,
  • A bird feeding, which provides food for birds and in the broadest sense a bird stove,
  • A district of the Upper Austrian town of Wels.
