The power plant is a thermal power plant Vojany at Vojany ( Košice kraj ) in Slovakia. It consists of eight blocks with a capacity of 110 megawatts. Operator is Slovenské elektrárne, a subsidiary of ENEL.

History

The planning of the first plant began in 1959, in 1960 the building was approved and in 1961 started the construction. It was completed in 1966. The second system was approved in 1966 and went into operation in 1974.

The first plant is with imported coal from Ukraine, which is delivered through a broad gauge railway, heated. The cooling water comes from the reservoir Zemplínska šírava. The chimney used is 200 meters high.

The second plant burned heavy oil. Between 1979 and 1985 she was modernized and rebuilt so that natural gas can be used. The fireplace was completed in 1974 and 1998, with 300 meters height next to the chimney of the power plant Nováky the tallest chimney in Slovakia. 1998 its height was reduced to 175 meters, to reduce transboundary air pollution.
