There arose in 1626 the estate of the councilors of Narva Johann jib. It was named Fockenhof through him. The result was later the Estonian name Voka.

In 1712 the post office was taken on the important road between the Russian capital Saint Petersburg about Tartu in the Livonian capital Riga in operation.

1781 bought the estate and the Scottish Baroness Socialite Elizabeth Chudleigh ( 1720-1788 ), who had become by inheritance one of the richest women in the Tsarist Empire. They founded a liquor factory and a pharmacy.

After her death, the property was transferred to the Baltic German noble family Wilcken. Beginning of the 19th century was the two-storey mansion in the style of classicism, one of the most magnificent in all of Estonia. It was destroyed in 1944 during the Second World War. Mid-19th century, the park was enlarged and extended by many new botanical varieties.

Frequent guest on the Well was the Baltic German scientist Alexander Theodor von Middendorff ( 1815-1894 ). There also lived polar explorer Eduard Toll (1858-1902), who was married to a daughter of the house Wilcken. On the family graveyard two of his children are buried.
