Volcán Isluga National Park

The Chilean National Park Volcán Isluga is located in the Andes, in the region of Tarapacá, near Colchane on the border with Bolivia. Just north of the park is the Lauca Biosphere Reserve. The national park has a size of 1747 square kilometers and lies at an altitude 2100-5550 meters above sea level. It is named after the highest mountain in the region, the Volcán Isluga, with a height of 5550 meters. Special attractions of the park are salt lakes, Andean condors, pumas, flamingos, guanacos, llamas and Vizcachas. There are also two hot springs in the park. On the extensive hiking trails you can watch birds. The main driveway leads from Iquique to Huara and from there to the A-55 about 180 km towards Colchane.

The park includes the cultural heritage of the people of the Aymara. There are several ceremonial sites within the park, such as Isluga.
