Volcanology
Volcanology is the science that deals with the systematic study of the phenomena of volcanoes and volcanic activity. It is a sub-discipline of geology. One of its main objectives is the prediction of volcanic eruptions, usually it is operated in the state Vulkanobservatorien.
Areas
- Experimental Volcanology, the established (Bayreuth, Kiel, Munich, Würzburg) since the seventies as a new research direction was, in particular, to explore potential hazards.
