Volgograd Reservoir

The Volgograd Reservoir (Russian Волгоградское водохранилище / Wolgogradskoje wodochranilischtsche ) is a reservoir on the Volga River in the south of the European part of Russia. He is the lowest part of the so-called Volga - Kama cascade.

The reservoir extends on the lower Volga to 400 km between Saratov and the dam at Wolschski and is 3117 km ² large, at 31.5 billion cubic meters of storage space.

The shut-off of the dam is 3974 meters long and up to 47 meters high stone and Erdschüttdamm. It has a building volume of 25.932 million cubic meters.

In the Volgograd hydroelectric power station is generated from the retained water of the lake or the river Volga flow.
