Volkan Demirel (2011)

Volkan Demirel ( born October 27, 1981 in Istanbul) is a Turkish football goalkeeper who since 2002 Fenerbahce under contract.

Career

Association

2000 Demirel began his professional career at second division Kartalspor and completed in two years, more than 50 missions. In 2002, he accepted an offer from Fenerbahce and signed a two-year contract. During the 2002/ 03 season, however, he came as a substitute of Rüştü Reçber only to use one. After Reçbers exchange for FC Barcelona before the 2003 /04 Demirel broke his nose. After his return he was initially only spare man behind Recep Biler. In December 2003 he received his chance again and again established himself with a strong performance as the number one. After 19 Season inserts Demirel won the championship with Fenerbahçe. At the end of the season, his contract was extended for three years.

National

After good performances in the jersey of Fenerbahce Demirel was on 28 April 2004 his debut in the senior team when he came on in the friendly match against Belgium. He was nominated for the 2008 European Championships as a goalkeeper. At the European Championships, he played three games in the preliminary round, where he due to an assault on the striker Jan Koller saw the red card in the final group game against the Czech Republic and was banned for two games. Despite this incident, he was a big part of the success of the national team in this tournament awarded ( third best goalkeeper in the tournament ). Following the resignation Rüştü Reçbers from the national team was goalkeeper Demirel of Turkey. After a public dispute in Derby between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray ( May 12, 2013 Sukru Saracoglu Stadium ) with the national team Sabri Sarioglu, who came on in the Istanbul derby, both players were expelled from the TFF and their coach Abdullah Avcı the national team. Since then, the goalkeeper Cenk Gönem, Sinan Bolat and Mert Günök represent his role. For the World Cup Qualifiers Turkey for 2014 World Cup, he was again in the meantime the first goalkeeper in action.
