Volker Blumentritt

Volker Blumentritt ( born June 16, 1946 in Jena ) is a German politician (SPD) and former Member of the German Bundestag.

Life and career

After attending the Polytechnic High School Blumentritt graduated from 1963 to 1966 an apprenticeship as a cook and then made ​​up to 1969 his military service. After that, he was in his learned profession, in 1974 at the " Mitropa ", works. From 1990 to 2003 he was Chairman of the Works Council of Mitropa AG in Gera and Member of the Central Works.

Volker Blumentritt is married, lives separately and has two children.


Blumentritt has occurred in the SPD 1997. From 2002 to 2006 he was a member of the SPD state party council in Thuringia.

Member of Parliament

Since 1999, Blumentritt is a member of the City Council of Jena, since 1998 he is mayor and district mayor of the Jena district Neulobeda.

From 2005 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag. Blumentritt was directly elected member of the Bundestag constituency Gera - Jena - Saale - wood - country circuit, but managed no reoccupation in the 2009 federal election to parliament. He was formerly Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
