VW Eos (2006-2011)

The VW Eos ( 1F type ) is a model of the Volkswagen brand and the first coupe -cabriolet with a metal folding roof and integrated Glas-/Schiebe-Ausstelldach.

Development

It was shown as the Concept C study at the IAA 2003 and also officially presented on 12 September 2005 at the IAA. The quality reasons repeatedly postponed launch was on 19 May 2006.

The Eos is together with the VW Scirocco, VW Sharan and Seat Alhambra at the subsidiary VW Auto Europe - Automóveis Lda. ( GmbH) in Palmela ( Portugal) made ​​.

The Eos is based on the chassis of the PQ46 platform of the Volkswagen Passat B6. The wheelbase matches the Golf V platform PQ35. The body was not derived from a closed limousine model, but is an independent new development. Since the introduction of the Golf VI there are new mirrors in the design of the Golf VI. The electric, five-section CSC ( coupe, sliding and convertible) - folding steel roof of the Eos was developed by Webasto daughter Oasys (Open Air Systems GmbH). The soft top, fitted as standard with integrated electrical Glas-Schiebe-/Ausstelldach, closes within 25 seconds over the four seats. An optional wind deflector is offered, however, so that the rear seats can only be used as a tray when installed.

Access to the rear seats is facilitated by the easy-entry function, which can move the front seats forward when folded back and drive back in the old position when returning it. The boot holds 205 liters (roof open) / 380 l (roof closed); the trunk lid is made of a glass fiber reinforced plastic and is drawn to the last millimeter electrically to the castle.

Motors

Four petrol and one diesel engine are available for the Eos. The entry-level 1.6 FSI was greater torque in October 2007 by the performance and especially fuel-efficient 1.4 TSI and replaced. The 2.0 TDI with pump-nozzle system was replaced for the 2009 model year of its common-rail counterpart, while the 3.2 - liter V6 the more modern 3.6 - liter V6 FSI important that meets the EU5 emissions standard.

With the exception of the six-cylinder version all engines are equipped as standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Standard for the six-cylinder as well as an option for the 2.0 TSI and 2.0 TDI is the six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG ) available.

Facelift

On 7 October 2010 VW presented and published press pictures the revised Eos.

The front has been adapted to the new entity face according to the Golf VI and the redesigned rear lights were straightened. The interior has not changed much. The introduction of the revised Eos took place in January 2011. The six-cylinder engine is no longer in the Eos since the facelift available.
