Geography

Geographical location

The village Vollmershain extends to about 4 km along sprat. The highest point in the municipality is a 306.2 -meter-high hill of Mühlberges ( 308.1 m). The Thuringian State Office for Environment and Geology is one of the community to Ronneburger agricultural and mining area. The nearest towns are Schmölln (7 km northeast), Ronneburg (7 km west) and Crimmitschau ( 8 km southeast ).

Neighboring communities

Adjacent communities are Heukewalde, Jonaswalde, Posterstein, Nöbdenitz, Thonhausen and Schmöllner district Weissbach in the district Altenburger Land.

History

1181 the village was first mentioned in documents as Volmarsdorf in tithe register of the monastery trombone at Zeitz. In 1952, Vollmershain by the county to the county Schmölln Gera, on the 1994 it came to the Altenburger Land district.

Population Development

1910 lived in Vollmershain 390 inhabitants, in 1933 there were 358 and in 1939 340 inhabitants.

Gerd Junghanns was elected with 96.9 %, with 97.7% in 2004 and 2010 with 99.3% of the valid votes cast for each mayor on the first ballot in 1999.

Culture and sights

Regular events include the Vollmer Hainer Music Festival in July and the open-air swimming pool at September 2 weekend.

Economy and infrastructure

Vollmershain located on the county road K 504 of Wettelswalde to Posterstein. The municipality is located in the Central German transport network and is connected via the circulating on working days except Saturdays bus 355 Schmölln- Untschen - Thonhausen the THÜSAC passenger transport company. The nearest connection points to rail is located two kilometers north in Nöbdenitz.
