Volnovakha
Wolnowacha (Ukrainian and Russian Волноваха ) is a city in eastern Ukraine in the Donetsk Oblast with a population of 23,000 (2013 ) The town is a railroad junction and the administrative seat of the homonymous Rajons.
Geography
Wolnowacha located in the southern Donbass in the center of Rajon Wolnowacha 60 km southwest of Oblastzentrum Donetsk at one of the highest points of the Azov height ( 282 meters above sea level). For the municipality in addition to the city itself (area: 8.087 hectares) still belong the villages Nowohryhoriwka ( Новогригорівка ) Nowopawliwka ( Новопавлівка ) and Trudowe ( Трудове ).
History
The settlement was founded as a station on a newly built railway Catherine railway in 1881. In 1938 Wolnowacha received the status of a city. On October 11, 1941, the city was occupied by troops of the Wehrmacht and freed on September 9, 1943 by the Red Army.
Population
The population is made up as follows: Ukrainians - 75.1 %, Russians - 20 %, other nationalities - 4.9%.

Wolnowacha is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons. The Rajon, with an area of 1850 km ², the second largest of the Oblast and Rayon with a population of 83,900 inhabitants ( 2013)
The most populous. It has a population density of 46 inhabitants per km ².
