Volodymyr Apatsky

Volodymyr Apatskyi (Ukrainian Володимир Миколайович Апатський; born August 29, 1928 in Minsk) is a Ukrainian bassoonist and known high school teacher.

Life and work

Apatskyi studied at the conservatory of Minsk and the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. He is a laureate of the International Competition in Moscow ( 1st prize). Apatskyi worked as principal bassoonist in well-known orchestras, such as at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Since 1994 he is professor of bassoon at the National Music Academy of Ukraine Peter Tchaikovsky. His students have won prizes in more than 50 competitions, soloist, chamber musician, as well as conducting an orchestra musician in the world. His former students are professors at the University of the Arts Bremen Musikhochschule Seoul, Minsk College of Music, National Music Academy of Ukraine, etc.
