Vologases VI of Parthia

Vologaeses VI. was a Parthian king who ruled from about 207-227.

Life

Vologaeses VI. was the son Vologaeses ' V., whom he succeeded. About his rule, very little is known. He had to fight from about 213 to his younger brother Artabanus IV, the media controlled, minted coins in Ecbatana and attempted to seize power in the Parthian empire in itself. Vologaeses apparently soon lost control of most of the empire. This was at least 216 of the case, when the Roman Emperor Caracalla invaded the Parthian Empire. 215 Caracalla had demanded Vologaeses, a Greek philosopher named Antiochus and a certain Tiridates - probably an Armenian prince - extradite Vologaeses had complied with the requirement. The following year, however, Artabanus rejected a claim existing against him by Caracalla, the Emperor to send a Parthian princess as a wife. We can thus conclude that Vologaeses was inferior to 216 Artabanus and played any role, though still up 221/222 at Seleucia on the Tigris Vologaeses of the coins were minted.

The 216 penetrating into Parthia Roman army came up after Arbela, where the graves of the local rulers who were the Parthian vassals, were desecrated. 217 Caracalla was murdered by their own troops; the new emperor Macrinus was defeated against Artabanus and had to close 218 peace. A short time later rebelled Ardashir I, the King of Persis part, against Artabanus, whom he defeated and killed 224. Subsequently conquered Ardashir large parts of the Parthian and founded the New Persian Sassanid Empire. Vologaeses VI. maybe able to keep going to 226 or 227 and a short time to benefit from the defeat of Artabanus, but he then disappears from view.
