Voltage Regulator Module

A Voltage Regulator Module (VRM; dt voltage regulator module), Point of Load Converter (POL ) is a voltage regulator that supplies such as a microprocessor of a computer with the proper operating voltage. Modern microprocessors are working to reduce the loss of power with the lowest possible voltage. It can not be called from a remote power supply available immediately, otherwise the lead resistances distort the voltage regulation. Therefore VRMs are located in the vicinity of the consumer on the motherboard. Some VRMs deliver a fixed voltage, but most are able to read the statement to the required voltage of the processor. This information is supplied to the processor by means of the so-called VID (Voltage Identification).
