Volturno

Volturno at Capua

The Volturno is a river in central Italy. It rises in the Molise region in Rocchetta a Volturno and flows for a length of about 175 kilometers north-west of Naples in Castel Volturno in the Gulf of Gaeta in the Tyrrhenian Sea. From Capua the Volturno is navigable.

On October 1, 1860, the Battle of the Volturno was held on its banks.
