Völundarkviða

Völundarkviða ( neuhochdeutsch: Wölund song) is a mythological poem of the Poetic Edda. It tells the story of the blacksmith Völundr ( German: Wieland), the here, " King of the Elves" is called. In addition, he is also known as one of the three sons of the king of the Finns.

His wife, the Valkyrie forth, daughter of King Hlothver, leaves him. Later, he is of Níðuðr ( German: Nidung ), a small Swedish king, who is on his gold from captured. His hamstrings are cut and he is forced to work for the king. He takes revenge by killing the king's sons.

The poem is preserved in the Codex Regius.
