Volvo PV800 Series

The Volvo PV 800 series ( colloquially Volvo Suggan (German: Sau ) ) was a series of taxi models, built from 1938 to 1958 by Volvo. The nickname had either the rounded shapes of the car or its property of being able to rummage through everywhere, down. The " Suggan " dominated the Swedish taxi market in the 1940s and 1950s.

PV 800-810

Volvo PV 802 (1938)

The PV 801 ( with cut-off wheel and rear seat) and the PV 802 ( without cut-off wheel ) were introduced in 1938 as the successor of the models TR 701-704. Chassis and bodies were completely new, only the engine was acquired by the previous models. The front end was also Volvo's smallest commercial vehicles, the LV 100

The PV 802 could also be used as auxiliary ambulance. After folding all the seats to the right you could invite a stretcher through the trunk lid. Volvo built continue Chassis, often served as a basis for proper ambulances.

During World War II Volvo built a four-wheel drive SUV called Terrängpersonvagn m/43 (TPV ) for the Swedish Armed Forces. The mechanics originated by small commercial vehicles of the brand, the body came from " Suggan ".

1947 models PV 801, PV 802 and PV 810 models were replaced by the PV 821 and PV 822. The cars were the slightly stronger ED engine and the steering wheel gearshift from the PV 60

PV 831-834

Volvo PV 832 (1950)

In the autumn of 1950, the taxi models received a new front to that of the model PV 444 and the pick-up truck L 340 corresponded. The cars were called PV831 and PV832 now. 1953 could be ordered on request the vehicle with front independent suspension. In the same year, the luxury version dispatcher saw the light of the world.

End of the 1950s the " Suggan " was pretty outdated. Volvo was planning a successor project P 358, a large car with a V8 engine. These plans, however, were not realized, and thus ended in 1958 with the end of the PV 800 series Volvo 's commitment in the taxi market. The recently introduced Amazon was too small to serve as a taxi can and the next larger model 144 only came almost 10 years later.

1953 Volvo introduced the successor to the TPV for the armed forces -wheel drive Raptgb 915 ( military name), TP 21 / P 2104 a. He was from the proven six-cylinder engine with 3670 cc and 90 hp ( 66 kW) driven performance and gave the Volvo E9 gearbox.
