History

Volxheim is a Franconian establishment of the 6th century. It belonged in the 8th century to the possessions of the monastery Lorsch and later the imperial abbey of St. Maximin in Trier. In the 13th century it came to the Rhinegraves. After the extinction of the Counts of Sponheim 1437 Volxheim became the jointly owned by the Palatinate and Baden. From 1707 Volxheim belonged solely the Palatinate and 1714 exchanged at Kurmainz.

As a result of the Napoleonic Wars was Volxheim 1798-1814 to France and after the Congress of Vienna ( 1815), the Grand Duchy of Hesse.
