History
Volxheim is a Franconian establishment of the 6th century. It belonged in the 8th century to the possessions of the monastery Lorsch and later the imperial abbey of St. Maximin in Trier. In the 13th century it came to the Rhinegraves. After the extinction of the Counts of Sponheim 1437 Volxheim became the jointly owned by the Palatinate and Baden. From 1707 Volxheim belonged solely the Palatinate and 1714 exchanged at Kurmainz.
As a result of the Napoleonic Wars was Volxheim 1798-1814 to France and after the Congress of Vienna ( 1815), the Grand Duchy of Hesse. From 1835 to 1969 the village belonged to the district of Bingen, 1969 took place in the course of municipal reform, a reclassification in the district of Bad Kreuznach.
Religions
Originally stood Volxheim the archbishopric of Mainz, became Protestant but after the introduction of the Reformation in the 1560s. Only since 1790, there is again a Catholic church.

Coat of arms
The blazon of the arms is: " split plate riveted in the top of a black border, golden, red and red -winning reinforced, double- tailed lion, down in blue and silver ."
It was founded in 1954 approved by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Interior and goes back to a court seal from the year 1541st The Lion and the Palatinate Wittelsbach lozenges were the Palatine emblem.

In recent years, many old houses have been restored in Volxheim, some of which are listed buildings. The historic center of attraction for tourists and artists. Notable buildings are the two churches, the house germ, as well as the old school building.

Economy and infrastructure
Originally Volxheim was a pure agricultural and wine-growing with a little tourism. Even today there are several wineries in the village. In the small industrial estate on the road Pleitersheimer some interesting companies have settled. A colorful mixture of freelancers and small specialized firms now contributes to the diversity of commercial structures in Volxheim.
