Geography

The river Vomano rises on the San Franco in the mountain area of the Gran Sasso at a height of about 1200 m. The Vomano has an average water flow of 15 m³ / s He crossed the Apennines and the territory of the National Park of Gran Sasso. The Vomano continues to flow in an easterly direction before it flows in Roseto degli Abruzzi in the Adriatic Sea.

In 1995 a large part of the catchment area of the river was declared a nature reserve. It was the Parco del Fiume Vomano Territorial Theme furnished with an area of ​​335 hectares.
