Von Bach Dam

Main water supplier to the capital Windhoek

Von Bach Dam is a dam of the same name and in Namibia, approximately five kilometers south-east of Okahandja and 60 kilometers north of the Namibian capital Windhoek. The Von Bach Dam is (* 1904 in Detmold ) named after the SWANU politician Hans -Wilhelm Sartorius von Bach and was completed in 1970. His dam has a capacity of about 48.56 million cubic meters, which he forms the main water supply for Windhoek.

The Von Bach Dam is fed by the Swakop and is the center of the so-called " Von Bach Game Parks " and the popular recreational area of the stream, in which, among other things, water skiing and many other water sports are available.
