Von Neumann neighborhood

The von Neumann neighborhood is a neighborhood relationship in a square grid. Only the faces which share an edge with the base surface together are considered as neighbors.

It was named after John von Neumann and is also known as 4-neighborhood (or Tower neighborhood because of the analogy to chess ) refers.
