Vonnas

Vonnas is a commune with 2844 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Ain ​​, in the Rhône -Alpes; it belongs administratively to the arrondissement Bourg -en- Bresse and Canton Châtillon -sur -Chalaronne.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Bresse region, approximately 20 kilometers southeast of Macon and even as far west of Bourg -en- Bresse. Neighboring communities of Vonnas are:

  • Perrex in the north,
  • Mézériat in the Northeast,
  • Chaveyrat in the east,
  • Chanoz - Châtenay in the southeast,
  • Neuville- les -Dames in the south and
  • Saint- Julien- sur- Veyle in the West.

The town itself is situated on the left bank of the river Veyle, at the mouth of his left tributary Renon. The eastern municipal area is also drained by the Bief d' Arcon for Veyle.

Transport links

Vonnas lies on the railway line from Bourg -en- Bresse to Mâcon and has its own train station.

The municipality is of the streets department D80 (of Neuville- les -Dames to Saint -Cyr- sur- Menthon ) and D26 developed. The latter provides a shuttle to the more northerly trending higher-ranking road links A40 and D1079 dar.
