Vontobel

Vontobel is an internationally-oriented Swiss private bank based in Zurich. It was founded in 1936 and employs around 1,400 people worldwide. Vontobel specializes in wealth management for private clients and institutional investors and investment banking. Vontobel were entrusted 2013 client assets of approximately 163 billion Swiss francs at the end. The registered shares of Vontobel Holding AG are listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange SIX Swiss Exchange. The Vontobel families and the Vontobel Foundation hold the majority of shares and votes. The company has offices in 22 international locations.

Structure

Vontobel is organized into three units: Private Banking, Investment Banking and Asset Management.

Private Banking

The Private Banking business unit is aimed at high net worth individuals. The offer includes asset management, investment advisory and wealth and tax planning. As a registered in the U.S. supervisory authority SEC Investment Advisor Vontobel Swiss Wealth Advisors provides wealth management solutions for U.S. persons.

Investment Banking

The investment business focuses on the financial derivative products, the securities and foreign exchange trading, institutional sales, services for external asset managers, transaction banking and corporate finance. The business model of the Vontobel Investment Banking can not be compared with the traditional Anglo-Saxon approaches because Vontobel not act on the capital-intensive commercial side of the business. The trading activities are limited to hedging of risk exposures arising from the underwriting and sales activities with structured products and derivatives.

Asset Management

The Asset Management deals with wholesale and institutional client business in the mandate. For others, it is also developing services and complete solutions for retail brands - products. In cooperation Vontobel supplies Raiffeisen Switzerland investment services. Vontobel holds in addition, a majority stake in Harcourt Investment Consulting AG, an international provider of fund-of- hedge funds - in particular products for institutional investors. Harcourt has a presence in Zurich, New York, Hong Kong and Grand Cayman.
