Vordemwald

Vordemwald (Swiss German: fɔrə ˌ ʋɑʊd ) is a municipality in the district of Zofingen in the canton of Aargau. It is located in the southwest of the canton of Pfaffneren.

Geography

The municipality is located in Pfaffnertal, which flows from south to north and flows into the Aare Rothrist. More than half of the municipal area is forested. The lower forest in the west and in the south west Boowald are part of the largest contiguous forest area of the Canton of Aargau. The valley and the hills in the south-east and north were cleared over the centuries. Around the village center there are single hamlet, Rümlisberg in the north, Benz leagues to the southeast and Chratzeren in the south.

The area of the municipality is 1015 hectares, of which 588 hectares are forested and built over 73 hectares. The highest point is located in the Boowald to 550 meters, the deepest at 414 meters at the Pfaffneren.

Neighboring municipalities are Rothrist in the north, Strengelbach in the east, in the southeast and Brittnau Murgenthal in the West.

History

In the 9th and 10th centuries, the population rose sharply in Zofingen and expanded over the Wigger westward into the jungle from. On the freshly cleared hills emerged eight-slot courtyards. Known as the " Waldviertel " Put courts grew steadily. Its inhabitants lived largely autonomously and cared little for the parent state. In the Middle Ages the area around Vordemwald part of the Office Aarburg, which was owned by the Counts of Frohnburg. Coat of arms

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is: " In White torn green fir, bottom covered with red V. " The church seal from 1811 and 1872 showed a torn fir with the letters G and W for " community forest ". Later they left off the printed letters because they often taunts occasion offered ( " sizes craze "). To avoid confusion with similar fir coat of arms, 1962, the big V for Vordemwald has been added.

On December 31, 2013 1815 people lived in Vordemwald, the proportion of foreigners was 4.6 %. At the 2000 census, 70.2 % were reformed and 18.7 % Roman Catholic; 1.6% belonged to other faiths. 96.1 % identified German as their main language, 1.4 % speak Italian.

Politics and Law

Economy

The most important employer is the nursing home Sennhof. It was founded in 1898 as a home for neglected and orphaned boys and 1931 converted into a nursing home for long-term and chronic illnesses.

Traffic

Vordemwald is on the main road between Zofingen and Langenthal, side roads lead to Rothrist and Pfaffnau. The connections Rothrist and Reiden the A2 motorway are only a few kilometers away. The connection to the public transport network is provided by a bus company SDRs to Zofingen station.

Education

The municipality has a kindergarten and a primary school. The junior high school and the secondary school can be visited in Vordemwald itself or in Brittnau, the district school in Zofingen, Brittnau or Rothrist. The nearest Canton schools ( high schools ) are located in Zofingen, and Aarau.
