Geography
Waters
In the district of the municipality Vordorf are the sources of two rivers. Because the community is located on the watershed between Aller and Oker / Schunter, these two streams in different directions.
- Bickgraben: The Bickgraben springs west of Vordorf, flows through the town of Gross Schwuelper west and flows here into the Oker.
- Full büttel Riede (also: Mill Riede, Mönchgraben ): The full büttel Riede springs north of Rethen flows through the municipality Ribbesbüttel to the north and eventually discharges into the Aller Canal.

The community Vordorf bordered to the South Brunswick, more neighboring municipalities are My, Adenbüttel, Schwuelper. The inner cities of Braunschweig and Wolfsburg Gifhorn both about 10 to 15 km from Vordorf.
History
Incorporations
On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Eickhorst and Rethen were incorporated.

Language

In Vordorf earlier ostfälisches Pape Teicher Platt was spoken as an everyday language and German as the school and church language. The Vordorfer grew up bilingual so. The two main authors of texts in Pape Teicher language come from My: Karl Ahrens (1868-1937) and Karl- Otto Dohrendorf. Meanwhile, we hear very little Low German in everyday life. The High German spoken in Vordorf further comprises but a number of local and regional words and language elements.

Coat of arms
Blazon: Above a blue sign foot with three golden acorns on a golden ground rotbewährter, left inverted blue lion with red tongue in an upright position. The lion is surrounded by five red hearts. In the upper part of the head shield the place names of the three community villages Eickhorst, Rethen and Vordorf are listed on silver base.
The Blue Lion and the red heart on golden background reveal the Lüneburgerischen influence, including the villages of the municipality were subject to a few decades. The crest thus refers to the coat of arms of Lüneburg, which is an adaptation of the Danish arms. Blue Lion and red hearts are since Valdemar part of the Danish coat of arms. This combination is relatively common in various versions in the local area - examples are the Gifhorn or Faller life. The three interconnected acorns symbolize the three united congregations Eickhorst, Rethen and Vordorf.
