Vösendorf

Voesendorf is a market town with 6512 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Lower Austria, in the district of Mödling. It is adjacent to the capital, Vienna ( west of 23, Liesing, north of the 10th district of Vienna, favorites).

The place is right on the two highways south motorway A 2 and Vienna outer ring motorway A 21, who have their node here. The Vienna outer ring expressway S 1 is involved here.

Economy

Voesendorf one of the richest communities in Austria. The most important economic factor is undoubtedly the Shopping City Süd, which is for the most part on Vösendorf municipality. But along the road Wiener Neustadt (B 17, local designation as in Vienna Triesterstraße ) are large department store chains with branches present. Striking is also the most visible "Pyramid ": The " Austria Trend Hotel Pyramide " with its transparent roof in a pyramidal shape. The complex was originally used under the name "Eldorado " or " City Club " as a swimming pool.

In the interwar period and after the Second World War there was a refinery on the west side of the road in Wiener Neustadt.

Attractions

In the north of Voesendorf is an Avar burial ground, which has been studied in several excavations. In it, the construction of the highway about 150 graves were discovered from the 7th to the 9th century. The findings demonstrate the coexistence of Avars and Slavs in this area, it could also Slavic clothing components found and grave goods are examined with reference to the animal skeletons.

In Voesendorf there is the 800 -year-old Voesendorf castle, in which the municipality is located today. It also houses a museum about the history Vösendorfs and a bike museum. The parish church Voesendorf comes from the Baroque period.

Voesendorf suffered like all places in the area, especially among the second Turkish siege, during which the city was almost completely destroyed.
