Voxan

Voxan is a French motorcycle manufacturer, founded in late 1995 in Issoire in France.

The name Voxan is a word that is both on the landscape in the area of the head office at the foot of the Puy de Dome ( fr. volcan volcano = ) and also alludes to the characteristic V-engine. All Voxan engines based on the same basic type with 72 ° cylinder angle, four-valve cylinder heads and a displacement of 996 cubic centimeters. Another design feature is the Royal horizontal position of the strut under the engine.

History

At the project inception, originally initiated by Jacques Gardette, various partners were involved, including Alain Chevallier, who is responsible for the design of the chassis, and the engine builder Sodemo in Magny -Cours. The first prototype was presented in 1997.

Commercially published in 1999 the first 50 models of type roadster. The second type cafe racer came in 2000, the Scrambler a year later added.

2001, the company Voxan had first filed for bankruptcy in June 2002, the motorcycle manufacturer by Didier Cazeaux and yacht manufacturers Guy Couach has been taken to ensure the continued existence of the company, after some initial difficulties and to enable a resumption of the temporarily interrupted production. Since April 2003 Voxan motorcycles were built again and extended the range with new models. For example, the Street Scrambler emerged in 2003 and 2004, the Black Magic, according to the design of Sacha Lakic. Since September 2007 Voxan was listed at EUR Euronext Paris. In September 2009, the company had to file for bankruptcy a second time. In March 2010, this process has been completed.

The company has manufactured at the production site near Clermont- Ferrand Issoire between July 1999 and December 2009, 1838 motorcycles.
