Voznesensk

Vosnessensk (Ukrainian Вознесенськ; Russian Вознесенск ) is a city under Oblastverwaltung in the Mykolaiv Oblast in Ukraine. It lies on the left bank of the Southern Bug at the confluence with the Mertwowid and is the administrative seat of the homonymous Rajons Vosnessensk.

The city was founded in 1790 at the behest of Empress Catherine the Great on a previously existing Cossack village again. Larger Expandierungspläne were stopped by the death of the Empress in 1796, nevertheless, the city developed at a local center in the region.
