Voznica

Voznica (1927-1948 Slovak " Hvozdnica "; Woßnitz German, Hungarian Garamrév - to 1892 Voznica ) is a town in central Slovakia with 670 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Žarnovica, a circle of Banskobystrický kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located on the western edge of the Selmec mountains on the left bank of the river Hron. By Voznica the Bach Richnava flows. The municipality covers not only the actual place is also a part of the heavily wooded valley Richňavská Valley. The center is located at an altitude of 219 m nm and is three kilometers from Žarnovica and nine kilometers from Nová Bana.

Neighboring municipalities are Žarnovica the west and north, Hodrusa - Hamre in the northeast and east, Dekýš in the east, in the southeast and Uhliská Rudno nad Hronom in the south.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1075 in the founding document of the Abbey of Hronský Beňadik as Goznucha writing. Other old names are Geznecha ( 1237 ), Goznicze ( 1456 ), Goznycza (1503 ), Woznicza (1773 ). Initially Voznica was the site of a toll gate, which was moved in 1320 after Žarnovica. The village belonged to the manor the castle perch, in 1391 to that of the castle Reviste and in the 17th century the mountain chamber. 1503 were recorded in a control list ten Porta, 1828 were counted 53 houses and 356 inhabitants, who were employed in agriculture and as a day laborer. Towards the end of the 19th century cloth making and linen weaving were widespread.

Until 1918, belonged to the county located in the perch place the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Voznica 678 inhabitants, of whom 660 Slovaks and Czechs. 17 inhabitants did not respond. 508 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Church of the six residents and one resident to the Orthodox Church; three residents were other denomination. 52 residents were non-denominational and 108 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.

Structures

  • Roman Catholic Church in the late classical style from 1842
  • Far from the village ends of the 16.3 km long and created from 1786 to 1872 sough of Joseph II, the longest tunnel in the mining region of Schemnitz; the other end is located at Hodrusa - Hamre. To date, the tunnel is used to dewater the mines.
