VPRO

VPRO is a public service broadcasting ( Publieke Omroep ) in the Netherlands. The company is based in Hilversum.

History

VPRO was established in 1926 as a religious radio station in the Dutch Liberals. The name VPRO was there originally an acronym for Vrijzinnig Protestantse Radio Omroep ( German: Free Inniger Protestant broadcasting).

1968 was released by the stuck behind the acronym religious confession. Since then, VPRO developed the most innovative and most alternative stations in the Dutch national radio and television. So 1967 was the first naked woman seen at the local TV on VPRO. Thus from the point, however, the program is similar to ARTE, often bizarre.

Like all public programs in the Netherlands also operates VPRO not have its own broadcast channel, but he shares with other programs the TV channel Nederland 3, similarly as in Germany, the programs of the first or the ARD produced by various regional broadcasters.
