The Vrbas (of serbokroat. Vrba for "Willow ") is a right tributary of the Sava, which is located in western Bosnia and Herzegovina. It rises in the mountains Vranica, just 20 kilometers east of Gornji Vakuf - Uskoplje, and flows into the Sava at Srbac. The Vrbas is from the source to the confluence 240 km long and the Sava.

Important tributaries of the Vrbas are the Pliva, which opens at Jajce in the Vrbas, the Ugar, which flows over 10 kilometers downstream of Jajce in Vrbas, and the Vrbanja that opens in Banja Luka in the Vrbas. Larger villages on the Vrbas are Gornji Vakuf - Uskoplje, Bugojno, Donji Vakuf, Jajce and Banja Luka.

Between Jajce and Banja Luka, the hydropower plant Bočac ( Hidroelektrana Bočac ) accumulates with a 66 meter high wall the Vrbas to a 20-kilometer long reservoir ( Jezero Bočac ). The power plant is in operation since 1982 and has a capacity of 110 MW.

The Vrbas is with its rapids an ideal river for the rafting sport. The World and European Championships in Rafting were several times held on the Vrbas.
