Vrchovnice

Vrchovnice ( German Wrchownitz, also Werchownitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. Lies 14 kilometers northwest of the center of Hradec Králové and belongs to Okres Hradec Králové.

Geography

Vrchovnice is located in the southern foothills of the mountain Horschitzer country on a ridge between the valleys of Frantovský creek and the Bystřice. To the northwest rises the Želkovický Kopec (297 m). South of the village runs the railway line Hněvčeves - Smiřice.

Neighboring towns are Žíželeves in the north, and Jeřičky Lužany in the northeast, and Frantov Habřina in the east, Račice nad Trotinou the southeast, Hořiněves in the south, and Benátky Hněvčeves in the southwest and Želkovice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Vrchovnice place in the year 1355th The village was to rule Hořiněves belonging.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vrchovnice formed a municipality in the district of Hradec Kralove. In 1897 the municipality of the district of Nová Paka. From 1949 to 1960 Vrchovnice was assigned to the Okres Hořice. 1961, the city was incorporated into Žíželeves and came to the same Okres Hradec Králové. Between 1980 and 1990 formed Vrchovnice Town of Hořiněves. Then the community Vrchovnice arose again.
