Vrees

Vrees ( Low Saxon: Wreeis ) is a member municipality of the velvet municipality Werlte and is located in the northeast of the Emsland. With 1673 inhabitants Vrees one of the smaller communities in the district Emsland.

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in northeastern Vrees of the district of Emsland, in the eastern part of the Hümmling.

Neighboring communities

Neighboring towns are in the north Neuvrees and northeastern Markhausen, which both belong to the city Friesoythe in the district of Cloppenburg, in the east the village Peheim, which belongs to the municipality Molbergen, in the south relieving the district of Cloppenburg, in the southwest of the community Werlte and to the west the town Rastdorf as well Vrees himself a member of the velvet municipality Werlte.

History

In the name Vrees (old: Weres 948 ) which is altfries. VRIS = Moor, Moder included, see also Vrisebeke, Vrisendonk and Friesland. The name appears in more recent times it will restart as Vrees. The Council of the Municipality Council Vrees consists of 11 women and councilors. This is the set number for the member community of integrated municipality with a population of 1001-2000 people. The 11 council members are elected through local elections for five years. The current term of office began on 1 November 2011.

The council have been part of the last local election in Lower Saxony on 11 September 2011 merely Council women and councilors of the CDU. The next local elections in 2016.

Mayor

Coat of arms

Structures

The Heritage House Vrees since May 1992, the cultural center of the village. Originally standing in Voltlage half-timbered farmhouse of 1780 was removed in 1989 as part of a job creation scheme and rebuilt in Vrees. In addition to the meeting rooms and the offices of the local government Vrees are housed in the Heritage House.

The Catholic St. Nicholas Church was built in Vrees 1893/1894 according to plans by the architect Alexander Osnabrück Behnes in pure neo-gothic style. In 1970 the church was enlarged by the builder and architect Josef Feldwisch - Drentrup from Osnabrück by extended the original south wall of the church by a parabolic cultivation. Clubs

The Catholic Rural Youth Movement Vrees eV ( belonging to the Dekant Hümmling and the diocese of Osnabrück) is an association that was founded on February 2, 1954 by local young people. The majority of the local young people occurs in the KLJB with reaching the retirement age this. The KLJB Vrees eV is one of the most active clubs in the community. Through many events, such as the rural youth festival, the village cleaning and beliefs weeks at Easter and Christmas, the KLJB receives strong support in the community. Sports

The sports club Frisia Vrees eV, founded in 1959, is the largest sports club in the community. He has two areas: football and dodgeball.
