Vrícko

Vrícko ( German Munnich meadow or Münichwiesen, Hungarian Turócremete - Vrickó to 1907 ) is a Slovak mountain village in Hauerland.

History

In 1258 the city was first a monk box - recorded in lists meadow of the monastic order - Monk Meadow. The monks from the nearby monastery ( Kláštor pod Znievom ) were managing at the time the wooded valley. With the colonization by mainly from Bavaria and Austria coming charcoal burners and shepherds of the valley was cleared and founded a Waldhufendorf.

1488 the town was founded in documents as German colonists community on the basis of commercially Erbrichterrechts. It was not until 1848, serfdom was abolished.

Although until 1918 Munnich meadow belonged to Hungary before it was ceded to the First World War in Czechoslovakia, the predominant part of the population has always been German. So in 1921, known in the census of 1969 inhabitants in 1941 to the German ethnicity. After the Second World War, however, the majority of the population was forced to leave his home. The path of those driven mainly led to Mecklenburg and West Germany.

St. Bartholomew's Church

Since 1631 there were in Vrícko a small church building, which was consecrated in 1715 by Bishop Luke Natali of Gran ( Esztergom ). In 1788 the church was extended by a new nave due to the growing population. A year earlier, the rectory was built and founded its own parish. Prior to the spiritual duties were performed by the pastor of the nearby monastery.

Also in the 18th century, the free-standing bell tower was built.
