The hills of Vršac

The Vršačke planina (Romanian Munţii VARSET, often Vršački Breg, rum Dealurile Vârşeţului called, . German " mountain of Vršac " or " hill of Vršac " ) is a wooded Mittelgebirgszug east of Vrsac in Serbia on the border with Romania. They rise from the middle of the Pannonian Plain in the southwestern part of the Banat and extend out to a length of 19 km in east-west direction. Its maximum width is 8 kilometers. They are among the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains and are part of the Banat Mountains.

The highest point of the mountain and the entire province of Vojvodina is vrh 641 m above sea level the Gudurički.

Other well-known peaks of the Vršačke planina are the Lisičija glava (590 m ), the Djakov vrh ( 449 m) and the Vršačka kula ( 399 m). The northern slope of the almost completely forested mountain is steep, while the southern slope flattens out to the foothills. These slopes are also the vineyards of Vršac and the historically significant Abbey Mesic.

The Vršačke planina are as Fruska Gora also an island Mountains. They once formed an island in the Pannonian Sea.
